Cardinals running back James Conner to miss multiple weeks

The surprisingly feisty Arizona Cardinals have lost their starting running back for the foreseeable future.

After injuring his knee in the Cardinals’ recent loss, James Conner will need “multiple weeks” on the sideline to heal up.

The seven-year veteran was on pace for a career year in 2023 for a Cardinals team that has been much more competent than experts believed going into the year.

Arizona will turn to second-year running back Keaontay Ingram, rookie Emari Demercado, and newly acquired Tony Jones Jr to replace Conner and his 5.4 YPC this season.

Conner’s injury comes at a very inoppurtune time for Arizona, as the Cardinals next two games are against divisional foes on the road.

Next week they’ll face a Rams team coming off a tough loss to Philadelphia. The week after they play in Seattle in front of the “12s”.

Quarterback Josh Dobbs has been serviceable this season, but he’ll have to be elite in those two games if Arizona has any hope of staying afloat in the NFC West.
