You asked for it!
The 2024 NFL Quarterback rankings was certainly controversial. Humbleness be damned, I can’t recall another Views from Section 400 article that was referenced as much as this one throughout the year. It’s only right we reload and deliver an updated list for 2025.
Let’s get to it, here are my NFL quarterback power rankings heading into the 2025 NFL season. I’m ready for the death threats. Here we go…
-
1. Lamar Jackson (Baltimore Ravens)
Argue with ya mom. He’s the most fun player to watch in all of football
2. Patrick Mahomes (Kansas City Chiefs)
He finally lost so I can move him down for a season, right?
3. Josh Allen (Buffalo Bills)
Congrats on the wife, now go get a ring that really matters.
4. Joe Burrow (Cincinnati Bengals)
He’s going to throw a million passes this year. I expect records to be broken.
5. Jalen Hurts (Philadelphia Eagles)
He just won the Superbowl, how can you keep him out of the top 5?
6. Matthew Stafford (Los Angeles Rams)
A Healthy Matthew Stafford can sling it and the Rams can win it all with him, Puka, and that guy… Davantae freaking Adams.
7. Baker Mayfield (Tampa Bay Buccaneers)
Baker is one of the largest risers on this list after returning to his Oklahoma-Heisman-trophy-winning-self last year with the Bucs. He’s finally found a home in the NFL and should be a stud again in 2025. I do worry about the new OC, Coach Coen isn’t coming to save you!
8. Jayden Daniels (Washington Commanders)
I’m hesitant to rank Daniels any higher after only one season in the NFL. The sophomore slump has been real for many QBs (not Trevor). We’ll leave him right here after putting all of his talents on display last year.
9. Trevor Lawrence (Jacksonville Jaguars)
He’ll be top 5 by the end of the season. The Jags will be in the fight with the Bills, Chiefs, and Ravens to win the AFC. Fight me on Twitter – @viewsfromjack
10. C.J. Stroud (Houston Texans)
I’m not sure he should be this high, but I guess 10 is fine.
11. Jared Goff (Detroit Lions)
The stats don’t lie. He’s been a killer in Detroit.
12. Justin Herbert (Los Angeles Chargers)
Win a playoff game if you want to be ranked any higher. Congrats on the girlfriend though, she’s hot.
13. Kyler Murray (Arizona Cardinals)
I still believe in the uber-talented Kyler Murray, but the lack of team success has caught up to him at this point, enough to keep him squarely out of top 10 conversations.
14. Aaron Rodgers (Pittsburg Steelers
This one hurts. I’m a fan of the veterans, there’s a reason they stick around and earn new contracts. Rodgers could very well shock the world this year and look like the ol’ four-time MVP, I’ve got the Steelers on track to win 10+ games this year.
15. Brock Purdy (San Francisco 49ers)
I’m a believer in Brock Purdy, he is phenomenal at extending plays and making something out of nothing.
16. Jordan Love (Green Bay Packers)
Jordan Love comes in at 16 because everyone else below him just doesn’t get it done. No QB or team below Love and the Packers will be able to win the Superbowl this year, the line stops here.
17. Tua Tagovailoa (Miami Dolphins)
Healthy Tua is actually kind of slick, but we all know that it won’t last. Fins up? Nah, prayers up for Tua!
18. Dak Prescott (Dallas Cowboys)
Lol Cowboys fans. Dak will need to throw the ball 50 times a game with their awful defense and nonexistent running game.
19. Bo Nix (Denver Broncos)
Bo Nix had a way better rookie season than I anticipated- maybe I’m still blinded by the Auburn times. Either way, he needs to prove it again in 2025 to rank any higher.
20. Caleb Williams (Chicago Bears)
Zesty Caleb should be helped out by Ben Johnson this season. I expect a huge leap in year two. If it doesn’t work out, it’ll be his fault, not Ben’s.
21. Drake Maye (New England Patriots)
Everyone is super high on Maye and the Patriots this year. Will they be better? Yes absolutely. There’s just no shot I’m buying in until I see it. Also, while you’re here, Stefon Diggs is washed.
22. Geno Smith (Las Vegas Raiders)
Incoming 200 checkdowns to Ashton Jeanty and Brock Bowers this season. Geno and Pistol Pete in Vegas… what could possibly go wrong?
23. Michael Penix Jr. (Atlanta Falcons)
I saw some flashes from Penix at the end of last season. Let’s see how he progresses in year 2- I’m optimistic, but I don’t think Penix will ever be a franchise guy. Geno Smith career arc loading…
24. J.J. McCarthy (Minnesota Vikings)
We haven’t seen him in the NFL yet but he’s got Justin Jefferson and a full season learning the Kevin O’Connell offense – I think McCarthy will be better than most expect. Everyone below JJ I have low expectations for.
25. Bryce Young (Carolina Panthers)
This is a little petty, but not that petty. Realistically, he should be two spots higher, right below Geno Smith. Some Alabama hate and some week 1 Panthers hate.
26. Joe Flacco (Cleveland Browns)
Something about this guy I just trust. He’ll get replaced in a few weeks by one of the Browns’ dozen backup quarterbacks. Enjoy it until then. It’s also worth mentioning this was Derek Carr’s spot last year- I hope I’m not sending Joe to retirement here.
27. Cam Ward (Tennessee Titans)
The rookie needs to show me something for next year’s 2026 QB rankings.
28. Justin Fields (New York Jets)
He’s been in the NFL for four seasons and still hasn’t learned how to throw a football. He will run a lot though, that might be cool.
29. Russell Wilson (New York Giants)
It’s only a matter of time before he’s replaced by Dart. It’s also funny that this was Daniel Jones’ spot last year. Yikes.
30. Daniel Jones (Indianapolis Colts)
Same thing as Fields, but not fast.
31. Sam Darnold (Seattle Seahawks)
This guy can’t throw or run. He doesn’t have Kevin O’Connell or Justin Jefferson to save him anymore. He’s going back to seeing ghosts. S
32. Spencer Rattler (New Orleans Saints)
Just have fun, man.
