Jack’s Week 1 NFL Power Rankings

Week one in the NFL is always a crazy week. Some people claim it’s the most unpredictable week of the season, which I tend to believe, and it’s only getting more and more unpredictable with the lack of preseason play. Yes, the regular season started and I’m “talkin’ ‘bout” preseason. 

We saw a perfect example of that unpredictability in week one with the Cincinnati Bengals and Joe Burrow. Here we are in 2024. Despite Burrow only playing one drive in the preseason, we were all expecting him to be back fully healthy off the ankle and wrist injuries. If you watched the loss to the Patriots this week, you can tell Joe Burrow’s throwing wrist is a huge problem.

He did not look healthy and on top of that, the Bengals defense is bad. Cincinnati let let key players walk and it is showing. It’s safe to say the Bengals are my biggest loser of the week, and have fallen significantly in my rankings. I can’t trust their defense and I can’t trust Joe to sling it, which is a nightmare for “Cincy”. This exact same logic can be applied to what we saw in week one from the Atlanta Falcons.

Year two of my rankings will look a little different than the first go-around. While I’ll be ranking each team, they’ll be ranked by category. The higher you are ranked in each category, the more likely you are to advance to the next, and vice-versa. Each week, I’ll throw in some underrated units I believe people should be paying more attention to as well. Here is the first edition of my NFL Power Rankings heading into week two.
