Week 6 CFB Roundtable; Views From Section 400

Each Saturday during the college football season, the guys from Section 400 will go through the top storylines heading into the monstrous slate of games.

Find out below what Section 400 writers Brian Hauch, Jack Albanese, and Matt Kolen are most intrigued about in week 6.

Happy Saturday!

Rollin’ on the Red River

Which game are you most looking forward to on today’s slate?

BH: I CANNOT wait for this year’s rendition of the Red River Rivalry between Texas and Oklahoma. The Longhorns have been arguably the best team in the country this year, while Oklahoma hasn’t been too shabby either.

Sooner’s senior Dillon Gabriel has quietly been one of the best quarterbacks in the nation this year, throwing for 1,593 yards and 15 touchdowns. This game is going to be fun.

JA: Oklahoma at Texas. Two 5-0 teams battle it out in a great matchup to kick off the CFB slate. Get your popcorn ready.

MK: Brian why are you even asking me this question? How can you not have the Red River Rivalry circled? This game is going to be electric, I can’t wait. Quinn Ewers vs. Dillon Gabriel at the Cotton Bowl? What more do you need?

Georgia struggled on the road last week against Auburn (War damn), do you think they right the ship against 20th-ranked Kentucky this week?

BH: They’ll be fine. Georgia is back at home in this one and Kirby Smart probably cooked up some speech about how they are the most disrespected team of all time. Getting away from the Jordan-Hare voodoo helps the Bulldogs.

JA: Auburn is a very underrated and tough atmosphere to play an away game at.

I think the Bulldogs get back on track looking like the best team in CFB and get another W today over Kentucky.

MK: I think Georgia will be fine. Kentucky won’t pose a threat today.

California Dreamin’
USC Trojans/ X

USC is still only ranked 9th despite the Trojans boasting a 5-0 record. Can they win it all?

BH: Short answer, maybe. Long answer, probably not. Caleb Williams can do some incredible things on the football field, but the USC defense is bad enough to keep any opposing team in the game.

Williams will have to be perfect in the CFB Playoff if the Trojans even get there.

JA: I’m not saying Caleb Williams is as dominant as Cam Newton was in college, but I know a good QB can will a team to championship. They don’t have a great chance, but they can win it all.

MK: I like USC. Caleb Williams is legit.

With that being said, I think the teams ranked ahead of them are all better, so no, USC will not win it all.

What is your favorite bet of the week?

BH: My dad is a Rutgers alumnus, so I naturally grew up going to a bunch of games in Piscataway. Although the recent Scarlet Knight teams haven’t been nearly the same as when I was a kid, they’ve been fairly good to me when betting on them. Give me Rutgers +12.5 on the road in Wisconsin.

JA: I’ll give you two. Notre Dame on the road at -6.5 is easy money. Louisville is just not very good, I don’t care if they are 5-0. I also like LSU v Missouri over 64.5

MK: I’m going to take a small underdog here. Give me Texas A&M +2.5 in College Station against Alabama.

The Underdog

Pick an underdog, and I mean and underdog, to win this week.

BH: Hold onto your socks! The Maryland Terrapins are about to go into “The Shoe” and shock the world.

Taulia Tagovailoa and the Maryland offense have been itching to play better competition, and they get it here. The Terps have the type of explosiveness that can keep up with Ohio State.

JA: If Missouri counts, I’ll take Mizzou ML. Just because fuck Brian Kelley.

MK: I’m going to take a weird one in the almighty Sun Belt conference here. Give me U Louisiana Monroe right around +300 to beat South Alabama. Louisiana Monroe upset Appalachian State last week and I’m riding the hot hand.
