I’ll start this blog off by saying I’m not going to sugar coat the fact the Giants have had a less than ideal offseason. My favorite team lost its best player (to the god damn Eagles of course) and did not draft or sign a new quarterback to replace Vanilla Vick. Also Evan Neal still exists on an offensive line that might as well not. After all that the team signed on with HBO to take part in the inaugural “off-season Hard Knocks”. I’m sure that’ll be fun.
My point is all of those things were bad. These new jerseys are not. Maybe I think that because I have the fashion sense of a juvenile suburban kid but hear me out.
Pieces of the past
• 1933 Jersey
• 1938 Helmet
• 1925 Pants & Socks— New York Giants (@Giants) May 16, 2024
The one complaint I have right off the bat with these things is the actual jersey. I like the pants, I LOVE the helmets, the socks are fine (although stirrups would have been sick), but the jersey man… this would have been the ideal time to bring back and update the all reds.

Maybe I’m impartial to the all red kits because they were worn throughout the developmental stages of my football fandom the same way the Mets all blacks (don’t get me started on how they ruined those) were worn during my baseball childhood. I do think I have a justifiable opinion here though. Considering that is my lone complaint, I’m happy to say I approve these jerseys. Not that my approval was important at all.
The moral of this impromptu brain dump excuse for a blog is that not everything the Giants are doing right now is objectively bad. These jerseys are fine. It’s a nice ode to an organization with a history of success that is just over a decade removed from a Super Bowl. Whoever came up with the concept art for this design deserves a raise, and possibly a spot in the front office, because they made a solid move in an offseason full of pretty dreadful decisions.
New York isn’t going to win much this year (if at all), but at least they’ll look good while they are ineptly doing it. I just hope they hold off on wearing these things until at least Week 2.
