Every Thursday, the guys from Section 400 are here to answer the biggest questions heading into the Thursday Night Football game.
In this week’s roundtable, the guys talk playoff chances, the struggles in Seattle, and give you their best bets, predictions, and analysis ahead of this pivotal NFC matchup.
- Sleeping in Seattle.
-
Jennifer Buchanan/The Seattle Times The Seahawks have been in a skid lately after it seemed like they had a chance to win the NFC West. Is this team in danger of missing the playoffs?
BH: Seattle looked abysmal on Thanksgiving. Geno Smith clearly isn’t 100% and the loss of Kenneth Walker has somehow cast more rain clouds than they’re already are in Seattle. This team is in shambles, but the Vikings falling back to earth along with the rest of the NFC being terrible should be enough for Seattle to back its way in.
MK: It is total panic time for the Seahawks. After a nice start to the season, they’ve looked awful as of late. They could get snubbed especially as their schedule is tough the rest of the way.
JA: With 6 games left, I expect Seattle to lose their next 3 then win their final 3. At 9-8, I would think the Seahawks sneak into the playoffs as the 6 or 7 seed.
- We dem’ frauds?

Richard Rodriguez/Getty Images At this point, the Cowboys seem like a team that’s going to kill bad squads and lose to good ones. What do u need to see from Dallas to consider them a Super Bowl contender?
BH: Dallas needs to win this game and then take down the Eagles next week at home. If they can do that, I’ll have slight faith in Dak and the boys.
MK: Dak Prescott is a certified bum in the playoffs. He stat pads against bad teams and struggles to throw to over 250 yards against good ones. I don’t want to see him in any MVP conversation. Cowboys will fraud like they usually do.
JA: The Cowboys have not won against a team with a winning record. Well, luckily for us, the Cowboys play some good teams coming up. These two home games against the Seahawks and Eagles are going to tell us a lot. Dallas then travels to play Miami and Buffalo on the road. I’m going to need to see them go 3-1 or 4-0 to even consider them as legitimate SB contenders.
- Crunch Time.
-
Tim Heitman/USA TODAY Sports We may have just ridiculed both of these squads, but which one is making it further this season?
BH: I’m going to go with the Cowboys simply because they’ll most likely end with the five seed and a road game against the NFC South Champion. I don’t see a world where the sixth or seventh seed wins a playoff game.
MK: Both Seattle and Dallas will flounder out before they get anything going. I guess I’ll lean toward the Cowboys making it further because they’ll make the playoffs. Seattle is in danger of missing the postseason all-together.
JA: If I had to pick one, I’d grudgingly say the Cowboys. Ultimately I see both of these teams making the playoffs and losing in the first round.
- Best bet
-
Jane Gershovich/Getty Images Jack and I had a rough week in the betting standings last week. It’s time to turn it around. Let’s here your best bets for tonight.
BH: Brandon Aubrey is making at least 3 field goals in this game. Seattle’s defense is good enough to hold a Cowboys offense that struggles in the red zone. I’ll take Aubrey over 1.5 field goals with confidence.
MK: I took a running back to cover a low receiving number on Monday and it worked out. Let’s go back to the well. Tony Pollard over 20.5 Receiving yards
JA: The Cowboys are the better team tonight. They should win handily at home. Cowboys -9.
- Prediction
-
Ashley Landis/AP We’re due to hit on a final score. How does this game end?
BH: Dallas takes care of business at home, 26-20.
MK: As an Eagles fan you won’t catch me giving out a Cowboys win pick. Seahawks win it, 28-26.
JA: This one won’t be close. Cowboys win, 31-14.
