Thursday Night Roundtable: Views from Section 400

Every Thursday, the guys from Section 400 are here to answer the biggest questions heading into the Thursday Night Football game.

In this week’s roundtable, the guys talk Trevor Lawrence, the enigma that is the Saints, best bets, the AFC South and more.

These two offenses have both struggled through the first third of the season. With both quarterbacks dealing with injuries, who do you see stepping up tonight for their team?

BH: Alvin Kamara has yet to have a big game, and it might happen against this Jacksonville defense. The Jags have a good set of cornerbacks but have to guard the intermediate game. I think Kamara feasts tonight.

MK: This is going to be a weird game. I’m not confident in either QB here but if I have to pick I’ll say Derek Carr performs well at home in primetime. I just trust him more than Lawrence.

JA: Sir Trevor!

But seriously, I think there’s a reason this line opened at 37.5 points- both of these teams are banged up and now play on a short week. I hate to say it but I don’t think we see a stellar game out of either of these guys.

Although Michael Thomas hasn’t looked like his old self, he has been very serviceable thus far. Do you ever see Thomas getting back to his “can’t guard Mike days”?

BH: Michael Thomas will be a good receiver until he gets hurt again. Unfortunately, injuries have derailed his once-great career, and I don’t see him ever becoming great again.

MK: The “Can’t Guard Mike” days seem like they are far in the rearview mirror. Since the Saints invested in drafting Chris Olave, Mike can carve out a nice role as a really good second option.

I don’t expect to see him back to his old self as he is only getting older and older.

JA: There is no fucking shot. Slant Boy made his money with Drew Brees.

Life ain’t too breezy anymore with Derek Carr, Chris Olave, and Mike’s own injury history.

The Jaguars currently lead the AFC South but have been anything but impressive. Will someone challenge them in the division?

BH: Yes, and his name is Coleridge Bernard “C. J.” Stroud IV. I really believe the Texans will have a say before it’s all said and done.

MK: If you watch some of the pods you know I’m a big CJ Stroud guy. The Texans will challenge the Jags all year for that division. Book it.

JA: No one. The AFC South belongs to the Jags now and forever, amen.

New Orleans Saints/ X

Best bet for tonight fellas?

BH: Give me Alvin Kamara 2+ touchdowns. He’s going to have a breakout game.

MK: This game is beyond gross. Give me the under tonight.

JA: Why even ask this question? Jags moneyline, Jags spread.

Final Score

BH: Saints win it 24-21. Both running backs score thrice because that was my risk free bet on Fanduel.

MK: Saints 20 – Jags 16

JA: Jaguars 20-17
