What happened last night; December 20

We’re at a weird time in the sports calendar. I want to look forward to these nightly games but I can’t help but just wish we fast forward to next week’s Christmas action and New Year’s 6 Bowls.

Football is king at the end of the day.

Every single weekday, the guys from Section 400 will be providing a rundown of everything that happened in sports the night before.

Let’s get into it.

The Golden State Warriors turned back the clock on Tuesday night, led by 12 three pointers from Steph Curry and Klay Thompson.

Head coach Steve Kerr’s “Splash Brothers” combined for 57 points in Golden State’s overtime win over the Boston Celtics, improving the “Dubs” record to 13-14 as we approach the true start of the NBA season.

Celtics’ stars Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum were in the giving mood this holiday season, collecting 7 assists each.

Tatum specifically would have been better off hogging toys like the Grinch. The superstar shot just 17 times in the contest. That number was 7 below Derrick White and 5 below Jaylen Brown. While kids on Christmas break may enjoy a trip to “Five-Below”, it is not a spot Jayson Tatum ever wants to be in.

If the Celtics are finally going to get over the hump, they need their superstar to lead.

Ja Morant returned to action in spectacular fashion on Tuesday night. The 24-year-old star lit up Zion Williamson and the Pelicans, scoring 34 points, dishing out 8 assists, and securing 6 rebounds over 35 minutes of action.

More importantly, Morant’s Grizzlies got the victory and improved to 7-19 on the season. Memphis still has work to do, but the win last night showed they can play with most teams in the West as long as Ja is in the lineup.

We asked our Twitter followers if the “Grizz” can make a run at the postseason this year, and most of them seem to have a good amount of faith in Ja and company.

Just make sure this dude stays away from the glocks.

The Philadelphia Flyers are one of the cooler stories in sports right now. This team, which most of the city thought would be stuck in a rebuilding year, is currently second in the Eastern Conference.

Philadelphia won again on Tuesday Night, taking down the New Jersey Devils 3-2 in overtime. The win was not only huge for the Flyers, but it certainly send a message to Tommy Devito and New Jersey Italians everywhere that the dudes over on Broad Street aren’t afraid of them.

I’m still confident in the Giants shocking the world on Christmas Day, but this win gives me a little bit of hesitancy.
