What happened last night; December 6

Well, that was a little disappointing I’m not going to lie.

We talked yesterday about how we expected bangers across the basketball world in the four major games going on. Two out of the four turned out to be good.

Every single weekday, the guys from Section 400 will be providing a rundown of everything that happened in sports the night before.

Let’s get into it.

Lebron James still has the ability to take over a fourth quarter and lead his team to a “playoff” victory at the young age of 38.

James turns 39 next month, but has seemingly given a metaphorical middle finger to father time after leading the Lakers to a In-Season Tournament quarterfinal win on Tuesday.

Lakers center Anthony Davis got into the Las Vegas spirit too early, as he pulled a dissapearing act in the second half, shooting just 1/7 from the field.

Lebron and forward Austin Reaves were left to carry the load for LA, and they both delivered.

Reeves finished with 20 points including this game winning dagger three with 15 seconds to play.

Lebron was miles better, finishing with 31 points, 8 rebounds, 11 assists, and 5 steals in the win.

Huskies are taking over the college sports world.

I can write for hours on end about our Washington Huskies and the pure joy they’ve given us since we put in our future in early November, but I’ll refrain and keep it to basketball for now.

The Huskies on the other side of the country in Connecticut may find themselves in their own Final Four once the dust settles as well. So far this team looks just as good (do I dare say bettter?) than the version that won the tournament last year.

The backcourt duo of Cam Spencer and Tristen Newton is as good as any in the country. Alex Karaban and Donovan Clingan provide just enough upfront to compliment the backcourt.

Tuesday night’s win was exceptionally impressive to me due to the fact the Huskies best player, Tristen Newton, found himself in foul trouble throughout. Dan Hurley’s team didn’t miss a beat with him on the bench against a great opponnent in UNC.

Rutgers transfer Cam Spencer up big time, stuffing the stat sheet with 23 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists.

The Huskies may only go 8-deep, but those 8 are good enough to beat anybody in front of them.

As for North Carolina, they should be fine. The Tar Heels have some work to do defensively but won’t see the level of shot making UConn offers in most games this season.

Fear the Deer.

The Milwaukee Bucks are moving on to Vegas after a complete second-half dismantling of the New York Knicks on Tuesday.

Milwaukee moves on to face the Indiana Pacers (!) for a chance to hoist the NBA Cup. What a league.

Damian Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo once again led the way for the Deer. The duo combined for 63 points and 17 assists in the victory.

HIM.

USATS

I should mention Terrance Shannon Jr. leading his team to a Jimmy V Classic win over Florida Atlantic. Shannon Jr. led all scorers in the game with 33 points, proving he is in fact good enough to carry this team through march.

If the Fighting Illini end up on the 6 or 7 line once the bracket comes out, remember they’ll have the best player on the floor by a wide margin.
