What happened last night; January 31

Fair warning, I just edited our Trivia that is releasing this morning so things may get a tad loopy throughout this article.

I’d rather not specify what hour of the morning it is right now.

Anyway, here is what happened last night.

I’m Upset

Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

Unlike Drake’s 2018 album, the world of college basketball was plenty eventful on Tuesday night. First we saw South Carolina take down Tennessee in a game that proved the Gamecocks have a legitimate shot at winning the SEC.

Not only that, but the result gave us an insight into the Russell Wilson-like tendencies of Tennessee star Dalton Knecht. The guard volunteered his post-game free throw efforts to the media after the game in a stunning act of self-discipline after missing key free throws down the stretch in the home loss.

The second upset of the night was even more stunning as 9-11 Georgia Tech toppled the mighty UNC Tar Heels in Atlanta.

The Yellow Jackets have now beaten Duke and UNC in the same season and should stake claim to all Tobaco, and roads for that matter, in the state of North Carolina.

If they beat N.C State on Saturday I may have to start a petition for governor Roy Cooper to change the Carolina state bird to a bee.

Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson announced Tuesday that he would be sticking with Detroit in 2024 instead of pursuing head coaching gigs with the Commanders or Seahawks.

It’s hard to blame him for staying put, especially because Dan Campbell probably threatened to bite his knee caps off after his team only ran the ball seven times in the second half of the NFC Championship loss.

The news is not only great for Lions fans but also for Commanders offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy who now seems like the logical hire for Washington.

Former Patriots coach and arguable GOAT Bill Belichick is still unemployed at the moment as well.
