It’s easy to forget how brutal the sports landscape can be in the first week and a half of January.
With the NFL playoffs yet to start and the NBA and NHL seasons reaching the “who cares” portion of the year, it’s easy to tune out until things heat up again at the end of the month.
That’s why we’re here though. Every single weekday, the guys from Section 400 provide you with a recap of everything that happened in sports the night before.
Lethal 3-Pack

Miami may have fallen out of the AP Top 25, but that doesn’t mean you should write of “The U” to make another NCAA Tournament run.
The Hurricanes put on an offensive clinic last night in their win over 16-ranked Clemson, scoring 95 points in the comfortable 13-point victory.
Veterans Nijel Pack and Norchad Omier combined with Florida State transfer Matthew Cleveland to score 71 of the Hurricanes 95 points, showing when those three are making shots, this team is nearly impossible to beat.
I’m personally penciling Miami as a second-weekend NCAA Tournament team come March.
Snap Decision

Alabama center Seth McLaughlin nearly cost his team the Iron Bowl. He may have cost them the Rose Bowl.
Like his snaps in the Tide’s biggest game of the season, the redshirt junior will hit the ground running this offseason as he searches for a new home in 2024.
The news sounds like it will be less-than-heartbreaking for quarterback Jalen Milroe, who spoke candidly about his relationship with his center after the Rose Bowl loss.
“The quarterback and the center have to have a great relationship and that’s something that we tried to build throughout the whole season.”
The sophomore quarterback continued, “There’s a multitude of things that me and Seth talk about in that regard. That’s something that we do talk about.”
As much as I love seeing the dynasty of Alabama struggle (war eagle), I do wish the best for McLaughlin over the rest of his football career. The Buford, GA native made it a point to give back during his time in Tuscaloosa, using NIL proceeds to support the West Alabama Food Bank constantly.
Tuscaloosa will miss his generosity, but they won’t miss his shotgun snaps.
Pirates Booty

Remember when Saint Peters went into March Madness as a 15-seed and set the sports world into a frenzy by making a run to the Elite 8? Head coach Shaheen Holloway remembers.
Holloway is now the coach of Seton Hall and has now led his Pirates to two upset wins in the early Big East schedule.
After stomping the defending champion Uconn Huskies in the opener, Seton Hall just went into the Quahog and “Road Housed” No. 23 ranked Providence.
The Pirates aren’t nearly talented enough to make a run into March, but we’ve seen Holloway pull off some magical things before. He has a great player in guard Kadary Richmond, so we’ll see if Seton Hall can continue to rip off upset wins.
Grizzlies still stink.

Ja Morant is one of the more polarizing figures in all of sports. The superstar guard was suspended for the first 25 games of the season due to off the court antics, but is back now and playing like he never missed time.
Unfortunately, his team still stinks.
Memphis lost at home to the 14-20 Raptors last night despite a near 28-point triple double from their superstar.
Ja and the boys may be hibernating early this winter.
