Congratulations everyone, you made it to Friday.
The first-week post-Christmas/New Year’s Break is always tough, especially considering the sports are brutal, but we’re almost at the weekend.
What a weekend it will be, with two massive NFL games on Saturday followed by a full slate on Sunday. While I won’t be writing about the NFL action here, make sure to subscribe to our YouTube Channel and follow us on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or Amazon Music to catch our full preview podcast dropping tomorrow!
Before we get into all that we have to talk about what happened on Thursday in the sports world.
Your Joking

The Golden State Warriors dominated the defending champion Denver Nuggets for 40 minutes on Thursday Night. Unfortunately for them, the final eight minutes of the game were a bigger disaster than Draymond Green’s podcasting career.
Denver outscored Golden State 27-6 over the final 7:24 minutes of game time, culminating in an all-time minimum effort heave to win the game by MVP Nikola Jokic.

It’s a tough loss for the Warriors and their fans, but I feel the worst for Steph Curry’s moutpiece. That thing went through the ringer while Curry seemingly contemplated how his Dubs fix themselves.
The 16-18 Warriors have some soul searching to do, but ultimately a team with Curry, Klay Thompson, Chris Paul, and Draymond Green should find their way into the postseason. Right?
Penny for your Thoughts

With Houston moving on from the AAC to join the Big 12, many college basketball enthusiasts (including Section 400 personality Matt) believed Florida Atlantic would run away with the conference in their first season of play.
It’s officially time to put a full stop to those beliefs.
Penny Hardaway finally has an uber-talented roster that knows how to win games down in Memphis. Headlined by “somehow still-eligible” Alabama transfer guard Jahvon Quinerly and Saint Johns transfer forward David Jones, the Tigers have wins over Michigan, Texas A&M, Clemson, and Arkansas this season.
Memphis just beat a solid Tulsa team on the road to open up conference play on Thursday.
Don’t be surprised if the Tigers give FAU all it can handle in the AAC.
Jahvon Quinerly is 25 years old. Geez Louise.
Quinshon Gone

Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin finally got over a major hump by winning a New Years 6 Bowl this season.
Rebels fans had about a week to celebrate their teams’ best season ever before reality struck.
Mississippi’s best offensive player, and possibly best overall player, Quinshon Judkins announced on Thursday he will be entering the transfer portal after a 1,158 yard, 15 touchdown season.
The announcement came as a shock to most fans in the SEC, but reports later came out stating Judkins was not happy with his role, repeatedly asking Lane Kiffin to change the scheme of the offense.
I’m not quite sure how 271 carries over 13 game season was frustrating, but Judkins time in Oxford is over nontheless.
It’s hard to believe but this may very well be the worst spot the SEC has been in as a football conference since in the College Football Playoff era. That won’t last long after Auburn brings the conference another title next season 🙂
