What happened last night; November 28

I apologize for proclaiming last night’s Monday Night Football game was going to be fun. That was a goddamn disaster. Monday in general was a less-than-ideal sports night, but we’re going to recap it anyway.

Every single weekday, the guys from Section 400 will be providing a rundown of everything that happened in sports the night before.

Let’s get into it.

Butterfingers and chest pains.

Monday Night Football was a glorified game of hot potato. For the first time in 25 years, the Chicago Bears won a football game without scoring a touchdown. That is pretty much all you need to know about last night’s Vikings vs. Bears snooze fest. I warned everyone in Sunday’s podcast about the Josh Dobbs fall-off, and I can now regretfully say I was spot on. The Vikings quarterback threw 4 interceptions in the game, passing for just 185 yards and 1 touchdown. The crazy part is that stat line was almost good enough to win because the Bears come up with different ways to lose each week. Chicago missed a field goal, fumbled the ball three times, and nearly gave the game away before D.J Moore bailed them out by collecting 50 yards on the games final drive. Besides fumbling twice, Bears quarterback Justin Fields did have a solid game, throwing for 217 yards and adding 59 on the ground. Like the cookie brand that shares the same name, Fields has shown signs of greatness at times but his inconsistencies are still a major concern. Chicago is playing well, but it remains to be seen if Fields stays the guy in 2024. As for Minnesota, the loss is a massive blow to their playoff prospects, but they still have a chance because of the soft NFC wild card race.

X (not) gon’ give it to ya.

Oakland Athletics

I wrote yesterday about how the Oakland vs. Xavier game could be a fun, high-scoring matchup between two teams that like to run. I was not expecting what we saw though. The Oakland Golden Grizzlies went into Cintas Center and stole a game from the Xavier Musketeers, 78-76. Oakland’s win tells us more about them than it does about Xavier, as the Musketeers should be a bubble team throughout the year. The Golden Grizzlies have challenged themselves in the out of conference schedule, losing close games to Illinois, Drake and Ohio State before picking up this massive upset win. Keep an eye on this team in the Horizon League as the season rolls on. The trio of Chris Conway, Jack Gohlke, and Trey Townsend is good enough to score with almost any team in the nation.

The Los Angeles Clippers finally had a chance to get back to the .500 mark at home against a Denver Nuggets team without superstar center Nikola Jokic. They lost by 9. This team is a dumpster fire, and James Harden has only added gasoline to it. The other Los Angeles team, the Lakers, got blown out in Philadelphia yesterday by 40+ points. Lebron James and his supporting cast should be fine, but it’s never ideal to get shit-pumped by a team your supposed to be on-par with.   Contact/Follow us on all socials “linktr.ee/viewsfrom400” for all our coverage, posts, and takes from the best part of the stadium.
