What happened last night; November 7

You thought the drama was over after that great weekend of football, didn’t you?

Every single day, the guys from Section 400 will be providing a rundown of everything that happened in the world of sports the night before, and oh what a night it was.

This is only November.

Move over Coach Prime, it is the Lady Buffs turn to take over the town of Boulder, CO.

The College Basketball may only be a day old, but we’ve already seen the chaos that makes us love the sport so much. It all started on the women’s side of things, when unranked Colorado shocked defending-champion LSU in the Hall of Fame Classic.

The Lady Buffs shot a ridiculous 53% from the field and 44% from 3-point range on their way to 92 points to open the season. Guard Frida Formann grilled the LSU defense all night long, dropping in 27 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists in 35 minutes of action. Aaronette Vonleh (the little sister of NBA role-player legend Noah Vonleh) added 24 points of her own as well.

As for LSU, the Tigers start 0-1 after losing only twice a season ago. Kim Mulkey’s team made it all the way until mid-February before losing to then-number-one South Carolina last season.

On the men’s side, the James Madison Dukes went into East Lansing and won an overtime thriller to upset Tom Izzo’s fourth-ranked Spartans.

I talked about this game being the one to watch on Monday night in my preview yesterday and the Dukes proved me right. Forward T.J Bickerstaff and guard Terrance Edwards led the way for JMU, combining for 45 of the Dukes 79 points in this one.

It should also be noted that Michigan State shot just 1/20 from 3-point range and still took this game to overtime, so the panic button does not have to be pushed just yet.

We suck again.

The Los Angeles Chargers defense came into Monday Night Football giving up 24 points per game.Ā They held Zach Wilson and the Jets to 6 points in MetLife, sacking Wilson 8 times in 4 quarters of football.

The most entertaining thing about this game was Arnold Schwarzenegger’s pet donkey making an appearance on the “Manning Cast”. Thank god we had college basketball.

New York falls to 4-4 on the season, while the Chargers improve to 4-4 after the road win. I would say Aaron Rodgers needs to rush back if this Jets team hopes to make a run in 2023, but he may choose to take it a little easier in recovery after watching his offensive line last night.

Clap your hands, everybody.

Joel Embiid has found new life following the departure of James Harden.

The 76ers center went nuclear on Friday Night, lighting up the Washington Wizards for 48 points and 11 rebounds in just 31 minutes of play.

Embiid shot 10/10 in the third quarter, scoring 21 of his 48 points in the frame and leading his team to a blowout victory.
