What happened last weekend; January 2

Happy 2024 from us here at Section 400!

We’d like to thank everyone for supporting our Bowlmas series to close out 2023. We were able to gain subscribers and followers across all of our socials and we cannot thank you enough for watching, sharing, and liking our content.

Bowlmas is now officially done after last night’s Live Show (we’ll have highlights from the show up on YouTube soon). With 2024 here and Bowlmas in the rear view, it’s time to get back to business as usual.

Let’s look at everything that happened this weekend.

Heart attack Huskies.

Austin American-Statesman

Thank the lord we’re all still relatively young here at Views from 400, because head coach Kalen DeBoer and the Washington Huskies damn-near gave us heart palpitations last night. If you haven’t been following, we locked in our Washington future bet back in October and this teams has been giving us near heart attacks ever since.

Monday night’s CFB Playoff game was on brand fully. In a game which Michael Penix Jr. was clearly the best player on the field, Washington brought out my 13-year-old Dorito infested fingers Madden Playbook. using nonsensical trick plays and inside runs during the fourth quarter against the Texas Longhorns.

The play calling kept Texas in the game, and nearly allowed them to pull off a shocking victory on the games final play.

The Huskies (and our future bet) managed to escape, altough Dillon Johnson’s injury and the suspect finish to the semi-final game have us a tad rattled ahead of the Championship game in 6 days.

Milroe(no)

Robert Hanashiro-USA TODAY Sports

Remember when the committee snubbed Florida State because they didn’t have a great starting quarterback?

Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe just played one of his worst games of the sesaon against Michigan. The sophomore threw for just 116 yards in Alabama’s overtime loss to Michigan, failing to find the endzone once in the loss.

It would have helped if Crimson Tide center Seth McLaughlin didn’t forget how to snap a football.

Either way, Michigan found a way to win in overtime and head into the College Football Championship game as 4.5-point favorites against Washington.

Will the old adage of “Defense wins championships” hold? Or is Michael Penix Jr. simply a man on a mission. I’m ready to fast forward to next Monday.

Ref Show.

Dallas Morning News

The Cowboys are a bad football team and I will not be told otherwise unless they make it to the Super Bowl.

Dallas finally ended its losing-skid on Saturday Night. On the surface that statement seems nice for Dallas, but in reality the Cowboys choked away big lead and lost this game until the refs called Lions offensive lineman Taylor Decker ineligible after he was seen reporting before the play.

This group should be investigated. Figure it out Roger.

Biggest Frauds alive.

Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

Can we finally end the conversation about the Miami Dolphins being one of the best teams in the NFL. Miami has continued to prove they cannot beat good teams, especially on the road.

Mike McDaniel may be an offensive genius but his teams are soft. Soft enough to get clowned by the Baltimore Ravens by letting Tyler Huntley throw touchdowns in garbage time.

The Dolphins will lose to Josh Allen and the Bills next week and fail to win a road playoff game. Fade them now before you completely lose the opportunity.
