And just like that, we’re back. I hope everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving holiday weekend filled with family, fun, and football. I know mine was.
While you’re lugging around on your first day back at work, you might as well take a moment to catch up on everything that happened in sports while you were busy stuffing your faces.
Every single weekday, the guys from Section 400 will be providing a rundown of everything that happened in sports the night, or weekend, before.
Let’s get into it.
College Football Chaos

Thanksgiving weekend is normally taken over by the NFL, but it was the amuetur side of football that stole the show this weekend. Thing’s got started with No. 3 Michigan taking down No. 2 Ohio State in “the game”, which was for all intensive purposes the first game of the College Football Playoff. While Michigan controlled the game throughout, they had trouble pulling away and were in hot water on the game’s final drive before Ohio State quarterback Kyle McCord airmailed a seam route and threw the game-losing interception. Michigan is pretty much locked in as a top 2 seed in the playoff, barring a complete collapse in the Big 10 Championship against Iowa. Both PAC 12 teams also took care of business, although it was No. 5 ranked Oregon that looked like the better team again. Our Section 400 future Washington Huskies were nearly upset for the second straight week before walk-on kicker Grady Gross won the “Apple Bowl” with a 40-yard field goal as time expired. The kick not only set up his team for a win-and-in game against Oregon next week, but got him a full scholarship as well. https://twitter.com/UW_Football/status/1728589071822520400 No. 5 ranked Florida State No. 7 ranked Texas and No. 8 ranked Alabama were able to survive their games as well. Texas looked like the best team of the trio and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them jump up to the 4 spot when the rankings come out tomorrow, with Washington taking the 3 and Oregon slotting in at 5 in front of FSU. The aforementioned FSU team struggled to get by Florida in the Swamp, and shouldn’t be considered a college football playoff contender without starting quarterback Jordan Travis. It would be unprecedented to leave an undefeated Power 5 team out of the playoff, but the committee may have to do just that. I should quickly touch on Alabama’s “Milroe Miracle” in the Iron Bowl, but I won’t. Those fans had enough fun on Saturday night.
Frauds, 49ers, and Philly

Somehow Jack Harlow’s halftime performance wasn’t the most disappointing thing at Ford Field on Thanksgiving. The Detroit Lions, who I once believed had a shot at the No. 1 seed in the NFC, played very poorly for the second week in a row at home. This time the Bears weren’t on the other side to bail them out. Dan Campbell’s team plays virtually no defense, and the offense that was once high octane has stalled quicker than a GMC after a recall. The other top seeds in the NFC, the 49ers and Eagles, both won their respective games to leapfrog the Lions in the standings. Things will probably stay that way, as we are staring an NFC Championship rematch down the gullet. Over in the AFC, the Baltimore Ravens got a big road win to improve to 9-3 heading into their bye week. Baltimore is now the No. 1 seed in the AFC, leading a trio of 8-3 teams in the Chiefs, Dolphins, and Jaguars who have all showed more signs of fraudulent activity than a former Bishop Sycamore head coach Roy Johnson.
