What to watch for tonight; December 11

As Matt likes to say on the podcasts…. “we’re back”.

With all the baseball and football news breaking over the last week and a half this column had to be put on a short hold due to our emergency podcasts taking up so much time.

If you aren’t checking those out, you should be. We’re on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and Amazon Music.

You’re not here to hear about our podcast, although I hope you check it out.

Every single weekday, the guys at Section 400 will take you through the upcoming night’s slate of games, no matter how incredible, or how disgusting, it looks.

Today’s slate is pretty abysmal, with a Monday Night Football two-piece and a full slate of NBA action with no stand-out games.

Let’s dive right in.

The best.

USATS

(NFL) Packers vs. Giants

The New York Giants host the Green Bay Packers in the best game on the slate tonight. That should tell you everything you need to know about what Monday has to offer.

While the Packers should win this game on paper, Green Bay’s run defense is about as bad as Brett Favre’s moral compass.

New York doesn’t do much well, but they can run the ball behind the criminally underpaid Saquon Berkeley.

Jordan Love and the Packers offesne comes into this one scorching hot though, and that simply putting up three touchdowns against a bad “Big Blue” defense may be enough to claim victory in this one.

The best of the rest.

  • (NBA) Cavs vs. Magic

I’ve been sitting here for five minutes trying to come up with a clever one-liner or reason you should watch the second NFL game between the Titans and Dolphins tonight and my brain hurts.

Miami beats up on bad teams. Tennessee hasn’t won on the road this year. They are a bad team.

If anything, this could be a chance for Mike McDaniel to channel his inner Brian Kelley by giving his quarterback the keys to the stat-padding kingdom.

Tua currently has the fifth-highest odds to win the MVP Award at the end of the season. A great showing tonight should move him ahead of Eagles’ quarterback Jalen Hurts, and could move him into a virtual tie with Ravens’ quarterback Lamar Jackson.

Miami’s number-one receiver, Tyreek Hill, has the sixth-highest odds by the way.

If Football isn’t for you, tonight’s Eastern Conference game between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Orlando Magic could be a fun early-season matchup.

The Magic would be the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs if the season ended today.

Let me repeat myself, the Orlando Magic would be the No. 2 Overall seed in an Eastern Conference featuring the Boston Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers, Milwaukee Bucks, Cleveland Cavaliers, and New York Knicks.

The rest.

Quinnipiac athletics

(NBA/NCAAB) Rest of Slate

There’s really not anything left to cover tonight, but I will give you a college basketball bet since I’ve taken a few days off.

The Quinnipiac Wildcats are off to their best start since 1970, and that continues tonight against a historically below-average Yale Bulldogs team.

Wildcats guard Matt Balanc is the best player on either of these teams. The senior from Silver Spring, MD has gone for 18 or more points in all-but-one home game this year. Because of that, I’m extremely confident in the Wildcats covering a large spread (+8.5) at home.
