Oh my mullet if you are a fan of basketball tonight is the night for you.
Every single weekday, the guys at Section 400 will take you through the upcoming night’s slate of games, no matter how incredible, or how disgusting, it looks.
Today’s slate is the best we’ve seen in a while, with some great NBA In-season Tournament knockout stage action and an equally splendid college basketball doubleheader on ESPN.
Let’s dive right in.
The best.

- (NBA) Suns vs. Lakers
- (NCAAB) UNC vs. UConn
Not only are these two games going to be absolutely incredible playoff atmosphere type showdowns, but the scheduling is almost as lovely.
The 7-1 UNC Tar Heels are the hottest team in college basketball, losing their lone game of the season to Villanova in overtime. Since then, the Tar Heels have knocked beaten two very good SEC teams in Arkansas and Tennessee before winning their first ACC Game (?) of the year against Florida State.
I’m not sure why the Tar Heels had a conference game on their schedule this early in the season, but I am sure they will have their hands full tonight against a loaded UConn team playing a “home game away from home” at Madison Square Garden.
The Huskies lost a heartbreaker in Lawrence against Kansas last time out. Dan Hurley is sure to do everything in his power to get back to his winning ways tonight.
On the professional side of things, the Suns take on the Lakers about an hour after the college boys tip-off. The Lakers went undefeated in group play of the In-Season Tournament while the Suns lone loss was to Lebron James and company.
These Western Conference foes have higher aspirations than an “NBA Cup” victory, but that shouldn’t take away from what should be a playoff-like game tonight.
It helps that Devin Booker and Anthony Davis come into this game playing spectacular basketball. Add in Lebron James and Kevin Durant’s legendary feud, and this one is sure to attract some eyeballs.
The best of the rest.

- (NBA) Knicks vs. Bucks
- (NCAAB) FAU vs. Illinois
I almost went ahead and re-named this category to “the best part 2” but for the sake of continuity I contained my excitement.
That’s not to say you shouldn’t be as excited for these two gems as the first two, because quite frankly you should be.
The NBA game may look boring to some casuals, but I’m here to tell you the Knicks have been playing some beautiful basketball lately.
New York went 3-1 with a lop-sided point differential in the group stage of the In-Season Tournament in large part due to their superstar, yes superstar, Jalen Brunson averaging just over 28 points per game. He scored 45 against the Bucks in the group stage.
Giannis and company aren’t guaranteed to walk away with a victory tonight, and don’t be surprised if New York is the team heading to Vegas.
On the amuetur side, FAU and Illinois could end up being a better game than UNC vs. UConn. These teams are very similar in offensive efficiency but do it in completely different ways.
I would write about how good this one is going to be but I already did. Check out our guide for this game here!
The rest.
There is no rest. You should be watching the four games above.
