What to watch for tonight; January 18

Call me Princess Kate because I think I need to go to the hospital after looking over tonight’s sports slate.

It’s all-time bad tonight. The grossness almost made me refrain from writing anything but I made a promise to myself and the tens of readers out there so here we go.

The best.

(Tennis) Australian Open

The sport that uses a clock to keep score has found its way into the “best category”, mainly because I wanted to flash that fun fact that players and officially used to employ the help of the hands of a clock to tally the score of each game.

As for the 2024 tennis, the second and third round of mens’ and womens’ singles continues tonight in Australia’s capital city.

(NCAAB) Illinois vs. Michigan

There was a point in time I believed the Illinois Fighting Illini would overcome the Big 10, and their own, NCAA Tournament struggles and become a Final Four team.

Then star guard Terrance Shannon Jr. lost his moral compass faster than former Illini Center Meyers Leonard drops a derogatory term.

Shannon Jr. is now sidelined indefinitely and this Illinois team has reverted to what we are used to seeing from them. Brad Underwood’s team is going to win enough games in a mediocre but overrated Big 10 and end up with a high seed in the dance.

They’ll most likely lose in the Sweet 16. That’s if they even get to the second weekend.

On the other side, Michigan is a train wreck, although they did beat bubble team Ohio State on Monday. Forward Olivier Nkamhoua needs to carry the Wolverines through the Big 10. He’ll get some help from guard Dug McDaniel and his 1.25 GPA so long as he stays off academic suspension.

*McDaniel is currently suspended for the next six away games

The rest.

Wichita State Athletics

Alright before I go I’ll give you my college basketball pick of the day. The Wichita State Shockers are going to hit their team total of over 70.5 points with ease.

Guard Colby Rogers just gave Memphis 20. He might drop 35 on a bad (right now) FAU defense.

Do yourself a favor and watch our podcast with this game on in the background tonight. There is literally nothing else worth tuning into.
