What to watch for tonight; November 1

With temperatures DROPPING throughout the United States, tonight’s as good a night as ever to curl up with a blanket and watch some sports for hours on end. I know that’s what I’ll be doing.

Every single day, Section 400 will take you through the upcoming night’s slate of games, no matter how incredible, or how disgusting, it looks.

Today’s slate is fine, with a nearly full NBA schedule, four NHL games, one college football game, and World Series game 5.

Let’s get right into what you should be watching.

The best.

Arizona Republic

(MLB) World Series Game 5 (TEX leads 3-1)

Zac Gallen takes the mound for the second time in the World Series as he tries to keep the D-Backs alive in Game 5 tonight. Gallen’s first start in the Fall Classic was more of a disaster than the previous layout on our website. (it’s important to be self aware)

In Gallen’s Game 1 start, the Snakes ace gave up 3 runs on 4 hits through 5 innings. He also walked 4.

Gallen will go toe-to-toe with Rangers ace Nathan Eovaldi who had an even rougher go of it in Game 1. Shortly after we proclaimed him a postseason “GOAT” on the podcast, Eovaldi got rocked, giving up 5 runs over 4 2/3 innings of work.

Game 1 was the only competitive game of this series, so hopefully we get an equally fun game in Game 5.

The best of the rest.

Los Angeles Times
  • (NBA) Clippers vs. Lakers
  • (NBA) rest of slate

The Lakers and the Clippers face off in the “Battle of LA” tonight to headline Wednesday’s NBA slate. Unfortunately James Harden may already be enjoying the Los Angeles club scene to much, as he won’t be making his Clippers debut just yet. You can read our reaction to the trade that sent Harden to Los Angeles here.

All the stars besides Harden are healthy and ready to go in this one, so it’s definitely worth tuning in to ESPN at 10 eastern to watch Lebron James and Paul George flail and call foul for 4 quarters of basketball.

Almost every other NBA team is in action as the squads play their last games before the all-important mid-season tournament. I know you’re all super excited for that one.

The rest.

Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports
  • (NHL) Four games
  • (NCAAF) Ball State vs Bowling Green

If the World Series or NBA doesn’t float your boat, we do have four games taking place on the ice tonight and one football game that might as well be put on ice.

The highlight of the NHL slate takes place at 9:30 eastern on TNT when Nathan MacKinnon and the 6-2-0 Avalanche host on the 3-3-1 Blues.

MacKinnon hasn’t had a great statistical start to the season (7 points in 8 games) but he hasn’t had to do much for a loaded Avalanche team.
