What to watch for tonight; November 15

Wednesday’s sports slate is about as scary as the Adams family member who goes by the same name. This one might be tough to get through.

Every single day, the guys at Section 400 will take you through the upcoming night’s slate of games, no matter how incredible, or how disgusting, it looks.

As I stated above, today’s slate lends itself to the latter. Here at the games, you should be watching tonight.

The best.

  • (NBA) Celtics vs. 76ers
  • (NBA) Kings vs. Lakers

The Celtics and 76ers were inexplicably not the ESPN Wednesday Showcase game last week as the World Wide Leader went with Victor Wembanyama’s Spurs vs. the New York Knicks.

The mistake has been corrected, at least temporarily, this week. These Eastern Conference powerhouses come into this game tied atop the standings at 8-2. The Sixers are on the second half of a back-to-back but expect everybody that should be playing to play (Kelly Oubre is still recovering from getting run over by a car), and the same can be said for Boston.

This is far-and-away the best thing on TV tonight.

The Kings and Lakers battle it out in the nightcap of the ESPN doubleheader. Anthony Davis and Lebron James are both questionable after playing last night. If one or both of them sit out tonight, don’t feel bad if you go to bed before tip-off.

The best of the rest.

  • (NCAAB) Princeton vs. Duquesne
  • (NHL) Ducks vs. Avalanche

The Princeton Tigers and the Duquesne Dukes face off tonight on ESPN+ at 7 PM Eastern in my favorite game of the day. Both teams shoot just below 40% from the three-point line and feature a small-ball type of lineup with one dominant big man in the middle.

Princeton’s big man, Caden Pierce, is going to be the best player on the floor tonight. The sophomore is averaging 17 points and 15 rebounds through the Tigers first two games, one of which was against Big 10 opponent Rutgers.

Pierce should be dominant on the offensive side. The issue for Princeton will be the fast-paced Duquesne offense on the other end. Guards Dae Dae Grant and Jimmy Clark III are both averaging 20 points per game and should create problems for Princeton’s defense all game long.

Remember, it was the quickness and shooting ability of Creighton that bounced Princeton from last year’s NCAA tournament. While Duquesne isn’t as talented as the Blue Jays were, the game script should be very similar. That game saw 161 total points. Tonight’s over/under is set at 144.5

The Ducks and Avalanche face off on the ice in the only NHL game worth your time tonight. Colorado has dropped a few games lately but is a heavy favorite to get back on track at home.

The rest.

Campbell Athletics
  • (NCAAB) Campbell vs Virginia Tech
  • (NBA) Timberwolves vs. Suns

Keep an eye on Campbell (+22) vs. Virginia Tech tonight in Blacksburg. The fighting Camels have been a favorite mid-major of mine since the Chris Clemons days (iykyk). Campbell made the move to the CAA this year, and should add some competitiveness to that conference.

Virginia Tech on the other hand has struggled as a program for years. I just don’t think they are good enough to win a game by 22 points against a decent mid-major. This one could be a lot closer than you expect.

The 8-2 Timberwolves take on the 4-6 Suns in Phoenix tonight. I can’t bring myself to put a Suns game anywhere above this category until the star trio gets off the injury report.
