Okay before you click off of this blog please know this is the most pessimistic about the Mets in about a decade.
With that being said, I’m not “Frank the Tank” or any of these toxic Twitter finger trolls (Mets Twitter is truly the Wild West). I like to consider myself a realist with tons of optimism that eventually fades year in and year out.
At this point in my life, I’ve come to realize that will be the cycle every year until the day I die. The Mets are never going to make me happy because they are the New York Mets. I’m still going to watch every year with cautious optimism though.
That cautious optimism was nearly suppressed in 2024. Then some 26-year-old named Max Kranick took the mound in front of tens of fans and no broadcast crew in Palm Beach, FL.
Me seeing 26-year-old career minor leaguer Max Kranick threw 2 perfect innings today against the Nationals after the Senga news.
*allegedly there was no broadcast #Mets #LGM

I went into spring thinking the minor league veteran from Scranton, PA had about as much of a chance of making the team as he did winning a “Dundie”, but apparently he’s got some pretty good stuff.
Like I said there was no broadcast crew so I can only take the word of Anthony Dicomo, Tim Healy, and whoever else sat on the lawn out their at the BallPark of the Palm Beaches, but the word on the street, or dirt I guess, is Kranick showed some electric stuff.
I will say Trayce Thompson allegedly hit a grand slam in this game, so I’m not sure how much I actually believe this event took place.
Either way, Kranick threw 2 perfect innings with 2 strikeouts. In a spring where Sean Manaea’s 26 ERA is projected to be the Mets third best starter I’ll take any semblance of hope I can get.
Carlos throw this kid at Clover Park the next time SNY is there. Let’s see him do it in front of a crowd of hundreds and 3 cameras.
We got the new Mad Max now 😉
