Section 400’s Week 5 Monday Night Football Roundtable

Week 5 of the NFL season concludes on Monday night when the 2-2 Green Bay Packers travel to Las Vegas to take on the 1-3 Raiders

Green Bay is coming off an embarrassing home loss to the Lions, while the Raiders lost to the Chargers a week ago.

As will be the case every Monday during the NFL season, the guys from Section 400 are here to give their takes on the game.

Here is what Section 400 writers Brian Hauch, Jack Albanese, and Matt Kolen are thinking heading into this NFC matchup.

. Forgotten Love
Green Bay Packers/ X

Jordan Love has quietly had a solid season, throwing for 225 YPG and 8 touchdowns in just 4 games. Most of that has been done without his top target, receiver Christian Watson. Do you think Love is good enough to take the Packers to the playoffs in a crowded NFC?

BH: I actually love Jordan and the Packers this season. They won’t be good enough to usurp the Lions in the North, but they will likely finish second in the division and ahead of second place in the NFC South. The West should also beat itself up enough to only take two teams to the dance.

Jordan Love still has his faults, but he’ll be good enough to take Green Bay to the postseason in 2023.

JA: There are five teams I would consider locks for the NFC Playoffs this year; San Francisco, Dallas, Philly, Detroit, and whoever wins the NFC South.

That leaves two spots for the rest of the NFC.

I think Dallas will be the 5 Seed, Seattle will be the 6, and the 7th is up for grabs. I don’t like the Packers’ odds of taking it, but I haven’t written them off yet.

MK: I think Love has played well for the limited weapons he’s been given. The Packers quarterback has been watching from the bench for a few years now, which seems to always help with the growth of a young signal-caller.

I think they can be a sneaky last team in when it comes to the playoffs. Now can they win a playoff game? Hell, no.

Davante Adams is questionable going into this game. If he plays, what do you expect out of the former-Packer in his revenge game?

BH: I am 100% confident Davante will suit up and play against his former team. Adams has been extremely vocal this season discussing his ambition to win.

Sitting out for a 1-3 Raiders team doesn’t seem very on-brand for him. He’ll play and play well.

JA: It’s unfortunate Adams is banged up entering this highly anticipated revenge game. He is still debatably the best wide receiver in the NFL, and I expect him to cook tonight regardless of who has to cover him.

If Jaire Alexander is back for this one, I’ll be extra happy when Adams goes for 100 yards and a TD.

MK: The Packers offered same contract the raiders offered Adams.

Adams leaving wasn’t a “financial” issue departure, but solely a personal decision as the star receiver wanted to be closer to the west coast and his family. I don’t think there is any “bad blood” here, but obviously Adams will want to shine bright against his former employer.

Is it already time for the Raiders to look into trading Josh Jacobs?

BH: The Raiders should have moved on from Jacobs in the offseason when they had the chance.

I’m not really sure what Las Vegas is doing. They should have hit the reset button as soon as they let Carr and Waller leave. Instead, the franchise is left in the black hole of mediocrity that is Jimmy Garoppolo.

JA: This past offseason the Raiders should have traded away Jacobs, Adams, and never signed Garoppolo.

After bringing in Adams for Carr and that not working out, moving to Jimmy G made zero sense outside of the McDaniels connection. They need to start over on offense.

MK: Las Vegas doesn’t have much going on for them. I don’t see any world where “Jimmy G” get’s back to the Super Bowl, so I think you can move on from Jacobs and allocate the money elsewhere.

This game is in Las Vegas so naturally I have to ask, what is your favorite bet in this game?

BH: I’m going to get a little weird with this one. Both these offenses are good but not great and feature kickers from the best school in the nation. I’ll be taking both Anders and Daniel Carlson to have over 6.5 kicker points.

JA: I’ll give you two. Packers ML and Davante Adams anytime touchdown scorer.

MK: Davante Adams is going to crush his line of 78.5 Receiving Yards. I’d feel confident taking his alternate line of 100+ yards for plus money.

Who wins?

BH: Go Pack Go, 23-20

JA: Packers over Raiders, 26-23

MK: Vegas wins a close one, 23-20.
