The Minnesota Vikings have found their Kirk Cousins replacement.
After starting 8 games for the 1-7 Arizona Cardinals, former Tennessee Volunteer Josh Dobbs is on his way north to become the “QB1” for the 4-4 Minnesota Vikings.
While Dobbs is 1-7 as a starter, the losing record is hardly his fault. In fact, some might argue Dobbs is the sole reason the Cardinals have even been competitive in games this season.
In 8 games, Dobbs has thrown for 1,569 yards, 8 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions. The 2017 4th-rounder has also shown dual-threat prowess, rushing for 258 yards and 3 touchdowns.
The newest Viking is almost certain to start in week 10, if not right away, for a Minnesota team that has climbed back into the hunt after a horrendous start to the season.
This group of pass catchers will certainly be the most talented Dobbs has ever played with, especially once Justin Jefferson returns from IR in the next few weeks.
In a wide-open NFC wild card race, I think the Vikings just made a move that can keep them in it. By no means am I ready to say Josh Dobbs can lead them to a Super Bowl (or even a playoff win), but I will say he has shown the ability to be competent enough to keep a team in games.
If he was able to make the Arizona Cardinals look somewhat scrappy, something tells me he’ll be fine commanding a much more talented Minnesota Vikings offense.
