Section 400’s Week 4 Thursday Night Football Roundtable

Week 4 of the 2024 NFL season begins Thursday night with another divisional rivalry between Brian’s beloved New York Giants and the team everybody in Section 400 hates with a passion, the Dallas Cowboys. Both squads enter this matchup a win away from clawing back to the .500 mark on the season, putting the loser in quite a spooky spot heading into October.

In week four’s roundtable, Brian, Matt, Jack, and Zach talk outstanding rookies, mediocre quarterbacks with large bank accounts, and best bets for tonight’s game, before ending with their prediction of which team avoids the dreaded 1-3 start. Make sure to check back every Thursday and Monday throughout the season for our takes on each primetime NFL contest!

Believe it or not the Giants come into this game playing better football than the Dallas Cowboys. Are you worried about Dallas long term success in 2024?

BH: As much as I do openly accept I’m biased towards by hatred of the Cowboys, I think Dallas ends up missing the postseason in 2024. The defense has looked pitiful through the first month of the season, and while they should get through my Giants tonight, I don’t see a world where Dallas finishes its next six games against Pittsburgh, Detroit, San Francisco, Atlanta, Philadelphia, and Houston, better than 2-4. A loss in MetLife tonight could completely derail a team that came into the year with Super Bowl aspirations.

MK: They might be playing better but the Giants still stink, don’t let that question mislead you. I hope Dallas continues its poor play.

JA: Their defense can’t stop the run and their offense has no run game. Dallas is getting beat in the trenches for the first time in a long time. Yes, Cowboys fans should be worried, this team isn’t as good as they were a year ago.

ZM: F*** the Cowboys. Dallas will be a mid team this year. Ceedee Lamb, while great, is the only player on that team I am scared of.

Dak Prescott got paid to the tune of a 4-year, $240 Million contract this offseason, making him the highest paid quarterback of all-time. Where does he rank in your current quarterback rankings?

BH: Last week’s loss at home against Baltimore was a microcosm of Dak Prescott’s entire career. The 31-year-old was absolutely terrible in the first half, leading to his team going down by four scores. Prescott then turned it on when the game was already lost, leading to a comeback that didn’t happen. He checks in right around the No. 15 spot in my rankings.

MK: Prescott is outside of my top 15 as of today.

JA: In the preseason I had Prescott ranked right in the middle of the pack and he’s still there. He’s a good regular season quarterback but isn’t elite, and he is a choke artist in the playoffs.
Given the current state of quarterback play in the NFL he’s a top 10-12 guy for me thus far in 2024.

ZM: Regular season Dak is in my top seven. Playoff Dak makes me “YAK”. He’s barely in my top 41.

Malik Nabers and Trevon Diggs had quite the online beef over the summer. Who gets the last laugh on the field tonight?

BH: Malik Nabers is the best player in football. I said it on today’s podcast, and I’ll say it again. Trevor Diggs is an overrated, primadonna that can’t cover in man-to-man situations. Malik Nabers eats his lunch and throws away the lunchbox tonight.

MK: Malik Nabers can ball out but Daniel Jones might struggle getting him the ball. Trevon Diggs could definitely have a interception tonight…. If they even throw his way.

JA: Nabers is going to dust Trevon Diggs, but the Cowboys will get the last laugh when it’s all said and done.

ZM: Trevon Diggs will get the last laugh tonight, although Nabers will put up some numbers.

This game may be projected to be ugly, but I need your finest looking bet for tonight’s game!

BH: The Dallas Cowboys do not defend. I’ll gladly take the Giants team total OVER 19.5 points.

MK: It’s the Cowboys to cover (-5.5). The Giants stink.

JA: Jake Ferguson is soaring OVER 42.5 receiving yards. I think he’s clearing 50 yards easily.

ZM: I’ll take the Cowboys (-17.5) alternate spread at (+420).

Which of these teams is improving to 2-2 tonight, and will be the score?

BH: If the Giants win this game I’m going straight to FaceTime all my Cowboys fan friends. That’s going to happen. Giants win it at home, 27-24.

MK: Dallas in a rout, 27-10.

JA: Dallas by double digits, 24-10.

ZM: 31-13, “DEM BOYS”.
