What happened last night; October 11

I can’t quite tell you why your car is in the front yard, or why you slept with your clothes on, but don’t worry, I’m not gone.

Every single day, the guys from Section 400 will be providing a rundown of everything that happened in the world of sports the night before.

Rangers huntin’ birds.

The Texas Rangers are headed to the ALCS! They completed a three-game sweep of the 1 seed Orioles on Tuesday, becoming the first team to sweep the Orioles in over a calendar year.

Starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi was once again masterful for Texas, tossing 7 innings of 1 run ball in his second straight series-clinching start.

The Rangers lineup did their part as well. Shortstop Corey Seager got the scoring going early in the bottom of the first with a solo shot, before the Rangers rallied for 5 runs in the second, ending with a mammoth Aroldis Garcia home run to force Baltimore starter Dean Kremer out of the game.

The Rangers will take on either the Astros or the Twins in the ALCS with a trip to the World Series on the line.

Connor Bedard has arrived.

David Banks-USA TODAY Sports

The Chicago Blackhawks won the Connor Bedard sweepstakes in last year’s NHL Lottery, and it is already paying dividends.

Bedard and the Blackhawks started out their season with a “W” on Tuesday night, defeating the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-2 thanks to 3 third period goals.

Bedard had a great debut, collecting 5 shots and an assist while playing on Chicago’s first line.

The Tampa Bay Lighting and defending champion Las Vegas Golden Knights also picked up wins on opening night.

Some key offensive pieces hit the shelf on Tuesday.

Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson, Cardinals running back James Conner, and Dolphins electric rookie De’von Achane all are set to miss multiple weeks with various injuries.

While the Vikings and Cardinals are longs hots to make the playoffs, the Miami Dolphins are one of the best teams in the league, and losing a key cog like Achane could slow their already incredible offense.
