What to watch for Today; October 11

Every single day, Section 400 will take you through the upcoming night’s slate of games, no matter how incredible, or how disgusting, it looks.

Like Tuesday, Wednesday night features a busy slate of games, starting with some playoff baseball and finishing with some WNBA Finals action.

Let’s dive right in.

The best.

Fox Sports

(MLB) Phillies vs Braves (Series tied 1-1)

(MLB) Twins vs Astros (Astros lead 2-1)

The Atlanta Braves take on the Philadelphia Phillies in game three of the NLDS on Wednesday.

The series shifts back to “The Bank” after the Braves won a wild game 2 in Atlanta, coming back from a 4-0 hole to even up the series at 1 game apiece.

A whole lot happened in that game on the field, but it was what was said off of it that made headlines. On the games’ final play, Braves center fielder Michael Harris robbed Nick Castellanos of a possible game tying hit with a tremendous leaping grab against the wall.

Phillies star and $300 million man Bryce Harper was doubled off first base on the play, ending the game in the most dramatic of fashions.

Braves short stop Orlando Arcia reportedly mocked Harper in the locker room after with the line “Ha-ha, atta boy Harper” and the media has created a firestorm around it since.

Orlando Arcia just poured rocket fuel on an already scolding fire of a series.

Over in the American League, the Houston Astros have a chance to get back to the ALCS for the seventh year in a row tonight. A win over the Twins would not only put the defending champs 8 wins away from a repeat, but set up an “Lone Star Series” ALCS for the first time ever.

While that may sound surprising, it is important to note the Astros played in the National League until 2013.

The best of the rest.

(WNBA) Finals Game 2 (LV leads 1-0)

(MLB) Diamondbacks vs Dodgers (D-Backs lead 2-0)

(NHL) Full slate of openers

The WNBA finals game 2 headlines a solid “best of the rest lineup” on Wednesday.

A’ja Wilson and the defending champion Aces got the best of Sabrina Ionescu’s Liberty in game 1, and they are favored to defend home court again in game 2.

On the diamond, the 100-win Los Angeles Dodgers are on the brink of elimination and need to win three games in a row to move to the NLCS. The D-Backs have yet to lose in the postseason despite playing all their games on the road. Arizona will be rockin tonight for game 3.

The NHL season chugs on tonight after a small opening night slate. Connor Bedard’s Blackhawks are back in action to take on the Bruins on TNT, while Conner McDavid opens up in Vancouver against the Canucks on ESPN+

The rest.

New Mexico State Athletics

(NCAAF) Two horrendous games

(NBA) preseason action

3-3 New Mexico State takes on 0-5 Sam Houston State in a game you should not bother watching.

1-5 UTEP also travels to Miami to play 3-3 Florida International. Please do yourself a favor and skip out of these games.

The NBA preseason is in action again tonight with two decent games on NBA TV. First, the Celtics travel to Philly to take on the 76ers in a Wells Fargo Center that might have under 100 people in attendance.

The Lakers host the Kings in the nightcap.
