What to watch for tonight; December 20

How about those Auburn Tigers baby?! Multiple 5-star receivers and some gas all around the field are set to come on over to the Plains in 2024.

I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t want to be an Alabama fan right now. (Let’s just conveniently forget about next week)

Every single weekday, the guys at Section 400 will take you through the upcoming night’s slate of games, no matter how incredible, or how disgusting, it looks.

Today’s slate is less than meh, although we do get some great college basketball games.

Let’s dive right in.

The best.

  • (NCAAB) Baylor vs. Duke

I think I’ve already written three “season previews” on the North Carolina Tar Heels basketball team so I’ll refrain from going too in depth here.

If you haven’t read those or watched our podcasts, just know UNC is led by the trio guard RJ Davis, forward Harrison Ingram, and center Armando Bacot. The three combine to average over 50 points per game and may be the most talented teammates in the nation.

Tonight they’ll face an undefeated Oklahoma Sooners team that I have actually not watched a wink of yet. That’ll change tonight.

The Sooners don’t have the scoring star-power of UNC, but they play a tenacious brand of defense that compliments the timely scoring of guards Otega Oweh, Javian McCollum, and Milos Uzan well.

Oklahoma hasn’t challenged themselves greatly yet this season, but an undefeated record is an undefeated record. We’ll see how they fair against an extremely talented UNC team tonight.

Like UNC, I’ve already covered Duke a million times this basketball season. ESPN and the media outlets have done their fare share as well, so I’m going to do something no writer should ever do and assume you know enough about Duke.

The extremely talented Baylor Bears travel to Cameron Indoor to take them on tonight. All five Bears starters average double figures for a team that was undefeated up until their last game against Michigan State.

Guards RayJ Dennis, Jayden Nunn, and forward Jalen Bridges are all shooting above 43% from 3-point range.

The best of the rest.

Arizona Athletics
  • (NCAAB) Alabama vs. Arizona
  • (NCAAB) Villanova vs. Creighton

The best of the rest column features two games that looked like absolute bangers on the preseason calendar but have turned into just okay contests.

Alabama’s matchup against Arizona is easily the more intriguing. Nate Oats’ team was supposed to be a threat to win it all this year. While they still can make a run for an SEC Title once conference play starts, they are in major danger of falling to 6-5 in the non-conference.

I do think they cover the (+7) tonight in a game they’ll feel is a must win. Alabama has been losing games, but they haven’t been by much. Also a quick side note, Caleb Love and Mark Sears may get to a point in this game where they are trading buckets and I am praying for it.

On the other side of the country the Big East has started conference play because they are the Big East.

Villanova, like Alabama, was supposed to contend for a championship this season but King Neptune has sunk that program to Chum Bucket levels.

Creighton is actually one of the three teams I believe can win the title once it’s all said and done (UCONN and Arizona being the other two) but they just got curb-stomped by UNLV in their last game.

The rest.
