Why on God’s green earth did Adam Silver schedule an In-Season Tournament SEMI-FINAL for 5 PM Eastern time and 2 PM local time.
This tournament has been much better than we, and most of the general public, thought it would be, so it would make sense for the game featuring a former MVP and arguably the biggest budding star in the Association to be in a normal primetime slot.
Like the logistics of this tournament, this scheduling blunder makes no sense.
Anyway, every single weekday, the guys at Section 400 will take you through the upcoming night’s slate of games, no matter how incredible, or how disgusting, it looks.
Today’s slate is pretty solid, although one great game already is at halftime (alright I’m done).
Let’s dive right in.
The best.

(NBA) Pelicans vs. Lakers
Remember when I said I was done? I’m not. The second semi-final game between the Los Angeles Lakers and New Orleans Pelicans tips off at 9 PM Eastern Time, a full four hours after the first game.
The last time I checked, a basketball game takes around 2 hours Adam. This is an abomination to basketball.
The Lakers come into this one after taking down the Suns in a close game that saw Lebron James go full “Zero Dark 30” mode. The soon to be 39-year-old dropped a near 31-point triple double, basically carrying the Lakers to a win at home.
Austin Reaves did his part in the second half, but the Lakers will need more contributions from the supporting staff to take down a scorching hot Pelicans team.
New Orleans comes in just 12-10 on the regular season, but 4-1 in the In-Season Tournament. Brandon Ingram, Zion Williamson, and the recently-healthy CJ McCollum account for nearly 60% of the Pelicans total offense, and you can bet your chickens the latter will be playing his heart out for Twitter user “Jennifer Williams” tonight.

The best of the rest.

(NFL) Patriots vs Steelers
My mom once told me if you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say it. I’ve already broken that rule once in this column, so I’ll hold off talking about this game. It’s a football game.
The rest.

(NCAAB) Iowa vs. Iowa State
All 300 people in the state of Iowa and one college basketball junkie have this one circled on the calendar tonight.
The 5-3 Iowa Hawkeyes (+7.5) take on the 6-2 Iowa State Cyclones in what should be a fun-high scoring battle on the Hardwood.
The Hawkeyes are led by forward Ben Krikke. Like the province he’s from, the senior has the ability to light the world on fire with a deadly mid-range shot.
Iowa State is an early favorite in the Big 12 thanks to the outstadning play of sophomore guard Tamin Lipsey. Lipsey is averaging 15/7/6 this year and nearly led the Cyclones to an upset victory over No. 12 ranked Texas A&M a week ago.
The Cyclones are a wagon, but their best win is against VCU. I’ll take Iowa as an underdog tonight in what should be a close rivalry game. 7.5 points is way too many.
