I’d like to welcome all of our new readers of this column who are reading this for the sole purpose of seeing my college basketball bet of the day. If you don’t already know, I’ve picked JMU +16.5, and Georgetown -18.5 to open up the season, both lines have covered by 20 points.
Every single day, the guys at Section 400 will take you through the upcoming night’s slate of games, no matter how incredible, or how disgusting, it looks.
Today’s slate is a tiny bit better than yesterday’s, with an even worse college basketball night and some more boo-boo college football. We do have a full night of NBA however, as the league took Tuesday off for election day.
I’ll spare you my two cents about that decision and get right into the games you should be watching tonight.
The best.

(NBA) Warriors vs. Nuggets
Ladies and gentlemen, buckle up.
Wednesday night’s matchup between the 6-2 Golden State Warriors and 7-1 Denver Nuggets is by far and away the best thing on television tonight. Denver has yet to lose at home this season, while the Warriors have been great on the road (5-1).
I don’t need to tell you about the pure star power in this game, or the fact this could very well be a preview of the Western Conference Finals (and maybe In-season tournament championship?), but I will tell these teams have averaged 233 points over their last nine meetings. Do with that information what you please.
The best of the rest.

- (NBA) Celtics vs. 76ers
- (NHL) Kings vs. Golden Knights
The Philadelphia 76ers host the Boston Celtics tonight in a classic rivalry game that is laughably not the first half of the ESPN doubleheader because of the networks obsession over Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama (figure it out Adam).
The Celtics have quietly been right up there with the Nuggets for the best team in the NBA. Superstar forward and Section 400 enemy, Jayson Tatum has scored over 30 points in five of his last six games, making an early case for the MVP award.
The league’s reigning MVP awaits Tatum on the other side. Sixers center Joel Embiid is coming off a 3-quarter, 48-point performance in Philadelphia’s last win over the Wizards. The post-James Harden Sixers have looked rejuvenated. This game is going to be good. It’s a shame you’ll need NBA League Pass to watch it.
Wednesday’s are hockey nights on TNT, and they have a great one at 10 eastern. The 7-2-2 Los Angeles Kings make the short trip to “Sin City” to face off against the 11-1-1 defending champion Golden Knights. For those not paying attention, the Las Vegas Golden Knights may be the next dynasty in sports that no one is talking about.
The rest.

- (NCAAB) Barstool Invitational
- (NBA) Rest of slate
The college basketball slate is extremely weak tonight after most teams have already played for the first time this season. We do have some decent action though, as the “Barstool Invitational” invites FAU, Loyola Chicago, Mississippi State, and Arizona State to Chicago.
I, like the rest of the college basketball world, will be watching the first game between FAU and Loyola Chicago (+7) closely. Section 400 writers Matt and Jack are extremely high on the Owls this season after their final four run a year ago. This team returns all their starters and coach, and has the makings to make another deep run into march.
Loyola Chicago is going to be a tough first test for them though. It wasn’t that long ago that the Ramblers were America’s cinderella, led by the voodoo magic of Sister Jean and gritty defense, this team has struggled since moving over to the Atlantic 10.
Look for Ivy League transfers Dame Adelekun and Greg Dolan in this one. Denzel Valentine’s team is going to keep this one closer than people think.
