Happy Halloween weekend to you and yours. Whether you’re going out to partake in some cauldron jungle juice drinking, a costume party, buying some candy, or performing some tom-foolery, we’ve got you covered on what games you’ll have to DVR or keep tabs on while you’re out.
Every single day, Section 400 will take you through the upcoming night’s slate of games, no matter how incredible, or how disgusting, it looks.
Today’s slate is LOADED with a full night of NBA and NHL action, World Series Game 1, and one measly college football game that you should probably just skip to eat a Reese’s.
Let’s get right into it.
The best.

(MLB) Rangers vs. Diamondbacks (World Series Game 1)
(NBA) Kings vs. Warriors
How would the World Series not headline “the best” category for today? This series is going to be so enjoyable, and that’s not only because it is the first full season in 5 years in which a Mets division rival won’t be taking part.
Nathan Eovaldi and Zac Gallen get things kicked off tonight at 8:07 eastern time in Arlington, TX. For our full preview and predictions on who we believe will be taking home the Commissioners Trophy, click here.
The era of the pitch clock makes MLB games about 2 1/2 hours now. That sets up the ending of World Series Game 1 almost perfectly with the start of the playoff rematch between the Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings.
The Kings won their first game and look just as good, if not better, than last year’s version of the team that took the 3-seed in the west.
The Warriors lost to the Suns on opening night and will be without Draymond Green for a second consecutive game.
These teams did not like each other in the playoff series last year and I expect the same kind of intensity even this early in the season tonight as the Kings try to “light the beam” for the first time in the 2023-2024 season.
The best of the rest.

(NBA) Rest of slate
(NHL) 6 games
If you’re not inclined to watch the greatest World Series since the COVID season, maybe I can interest you in some NBA or NHL action.
On the hardwood, Trae Young and the Hawks welcome the rival New York Knicks to Atlanta. Young of course famously knocked the Knicks out of the playoffs a few years ago, and while his antics with the rowdy MSG crowd are what makes this rivalry fun, the game in ATL is still worth tuning into.
Other games of note include an Eastern Conference Finals rematch between the Celtics and Heat, and Victor Wembanyama’s Spurs taking on Jalen Green, Jabari Smith Jr., and the young Rockets.
On the ice, we get a tamer slate with four early games and two late games. The early slate is headlined by Connor Bedard’s Blackhawks taking on the 7-0-0 Vegas Golden Knights, while the late games feature matchups against teams at or above .500.
The rest.

(NCAAF) Florida Atlantic vs Charlotte
If you are watching the 3-4 Florida Atlantic Owls take on the 2-5 Charlotte 49ers at 7 pm on a Friday night you need to reevaluate your life decisions.
