So two quick things here. First of, I did not expect the second iteration of my rankings to see this much movement. College football is unpredictable and chaotic but my goodness.
The team we selected as our official ‘Views From 400’ future isn’t even ranked in my top 12 this week, while the BYU and the BIG 12 soaked up as many spots as the BIG 10, a conference that has won the last three national championships.
Just wait until the Auburn Tigers force their way onto a graphic soon. Things could get real weird.

1. BYU
2. Miami
Miami has done nothing wrong this season expect give up two consecutive Hail Marys against rival Florida State in overtime. Luckily for the Hurricanes the ACC made the call that nonsense would not be tolerated. Luckily for me, BYU won so I don’t have to rank this team as the top in the country.
3. Notre Dame
Ohio State fans have a legitimate argument the Buckeyes should be ranked as the top team in the country after a road victory over Indiana. To that point I simply turn your attention to the illegitimate contender status of Texas.
4. Georgia
Even though it lost to Auburn, Georgia still is the most complete team in the SEC, which is good enough for a top four spot in the country. The Bulldogs (and the conference) may be in the midst of yet another down year.
5. Indiana
Like Georgia, Indiana’s loss doesn’t warrant a large fall in the top 12. The Hoosiers were a Nick Marsh big toe away from winning in walk off fashion last Saturday. While this squad isn’t nearly as good as last year’s undefeated championship team, Curt Cignetti will make his mark on this year’s CFP.
6. UCLA
Bob Chesney just wins man. I find it fitting his Bruins sit right next to Curt Cignetti’s Indiana.
7. Ole Miss
Ole Miss won on Saturday. It was dominant but also ugly. The Rebels stay exactly where they were a week ago.
8. Texas Tech
Welcome to the comfortably in conversation Texas Tech. You really didn’t do much other than not royally screw up, but congratulations either way.
9. Utah
Utah nearly blew it on the road against Colorado, but it didn’t.
10. Kentucky
Welcome to the College Football Playoff Kentucky! I thought (and hoped) it would take head coach Will Stein a bit longer to make a contender out of the basketball blue blood, but here we are. If the season ended today the Wildcats would be playing for an SEC Championship.
11. Tennessee
Tennessee beat Alabama to claim a spot in the field.
12. Boise State

F4 Out: Alabama, followed by Notre Dame, will return to the field as soon as any program ranked below Ole Miss loses a game.
