What happened last weekend; November 13

It is mind-boggling to me that we are only a week and a half from Thanksgiving (my favorite holiday by the way). I guess it’s true what they say about time as you age, but man, this is insane.

I’m going to be 26 in two weeks and to celebrate that I get to start paying my own health insurance! Fun times ahead. Speaking of fun times, we have a heck of a football weekend to recap.

Every single weekday, the guys from Section 400 will be providing a rundown of everything that happened in the world of sports the night before.

We have a lot to get to, so let’s dive into it.

In Dobbs we trust.

The legend of Joshua Dobbs continues to grow. After starting the season with the Cardinals and leading them to the title of a “frisky bad team”, quarterback Joshua Dobbs has won his first two games in a Vikings uniform.

The 28-year-old played one of his best games of the season arguably the best defense he’s seen, torching the New Orleans Saints for 310 total yards and 2 touchdowns. Most importantly, Dobbs took care of the rock, committing 0 turnovers for just the second time in 6 weeks.

I, like so many others around the football world, really have no words to describe what we are seeing out of the career-long backup quarterback, but I will tell you that Joshua Dobbs emcompasses the values of a Section 400 man.

This dude just wants to ball. He truly doesn’t care what team, what time, or what place (sorry Zach Wilson). Dobbs is there to run around for a league-leading 134 scramble yards over expected while using his catapult of a throwing motion to drop times downfield.

Can he lead the Vikings to the Super Bowl? Probably not. But can he keep them in a playoff race while keeping us all entertained in a bad NFL season? Yes…he…can.

Houston, we (don’t) have a problem.

If your bingo card had Joshua Dobbs and C.J. Stroud as the two biggest storylines more than halfway through the NFL season, you are a liar.

The latter has been a firecracker this NFL season and is already a lock to win the Rookie of the Year award at the NFL Honors in February. The way he is playing, he may not be at that awards ceremony.

Coleridge Bernard “C. J.” Stroud IV (say that 5 times fast) went into Joe Burrow’s house in Cincinnati this weekend and dismantled the Bengals. Not only that, but the second-overall pick led another game winning drive with barely any time on the clock, setting up a game winning field goal as time expired for the second straight week.

The Ohio State alum has recorded 17 total touchdowns this year to just 2 interceptions thrown. Stroud is already one of the premier quarterbacks in the NFL and has a legitimate case to win the MVP award if the season ended today.

Un-chaotic chaos

We had high hopes for Saturday’s college football slate delivering some great games and a few upsets. While it did provide some entertaining matchups, the only upsets were the fans in Happy Valley.

No teams in the top 10 of the College Football Playoff rankings lost, although Texas tried their hardest to blow another game.

Michigan and Penn State, which we all tabbed as our game to watch in the roundtable, was a snooze fest. Drew Allar did his best Drew Lock impression throughout this game, making bad throw after bad throw on his way to a 46% completion percentage and 70 yards.

Michigan didn’t throw the ball in the second half, milking the clown on the Nittany Lions clown show and securing “Big Blue’s” tenth win.

The best game of the day came in Seattle, where Washington gave the whole Section 400 staff mini-heart attacks just hours after we proclaimed Washington our future to win it all.

Michael Penix and Co. did survive, barely. You can find our instant analysis of that game by clicking here.

I’ll have a full recap of the NBA In-season tournament action on the site shortly, but for now I need to highlight what is going on in Philadelphia.

Guard Tyrese Maxey is THRIVING after the departure of James Harden. The fourth-year guard out of Kentucky has become the ultimate compliment to Joel Embiid’s paint domination, helping the 76ers to an eastern conference best 8-1 record.

Maxey’s highlight of the season came on Sunday when the guard lit up the Pacers for a career-high 50 points.

I’ll leave it at that for the time being. Tune in later today for my in depth NBA recap as we approach the second half of In-Season Tournament group play.
