What to watch for tonight; November 9

Happy Big Brother finale day to those who celebrate! CBS managed to schedule the finale of its second-biggest game show on the night of quite possibly the worst football game of the year, which is phenomenal news. More on that game later.

Every single day, the guys at Section 400 will take you through the upcoming night’s slate of games, no matter how incredible, or how disgusting, it looks.

November 9 is a rough night for the sports world. We have the 1-7 Panthers taking on the 2-7 Bears on Thursday Night Football, a college basketball schedule that leaves a lot to be desired, and only two NBA games. We do have a full night of NHL action, so there’s something.

This one may be tough to get through. Here we go.

The best.

  • (NHL) Wild vs. Rangers
  • (NFL) Panthers vs. Bears

I apologize to all the big hockey fans out there for what I am about to write, but you know it’s a bad sports night when the first game in the “best” category is a non-playoff, interconference hockey game.

The New York Rangers have started the season the way they were hoping to finish it a year ago. The team is 9-2-1 behind the strong play of wingers Artemi Panarin and Chris Kreider.

Those two and the rest of the Rangers attack have combined with the outstanding play of goaltenders Igor Shesterkin and Jonathan Quick to get New York off the a fast (I stopped myself from making a “quick” pun) start.

The other game in the best category is simply here because it is an NFL game. It may be the worst NFL game of the year, but it is one nonetheless. For our best bets, prediction, and takes ahead of Panthers vs. Bears, read our roundtable here.

The best of the rest.

  • (NBA) Bucks vs. Pacers
  • (NBA) Hawks vs. Magic

With the second day of the NBA In-season Tournament taking place tomorrow after a week off between games (figure it out Adam), the slate is very light tonight. If you are still having trouble figuring out the NBA In-Season Tournament I don’t blame you. That is exactly why we made a guide outlining how it all works.

As for tonights action, the Indiana Pacers have been a sneaky good team this season. Guard Tyrese Haliburton looks like an All-NBA type of player and the supporting cast of Myles Turner, Buddy Hield, Benedict Mathurin, and Aaron Nesmith have played well behind him, putting Indiana right in the thick of things in the eastern conference.

The Milwaukee Bucks have been good after the acquisition of Damian Lillard but are still searching for how to be great. This should be a fun one on NBA TV.

The Hawks and Magic are both 4-3 and playing at 9:30 local time, making me think this game is going to sore under the 231.5 point total.

The rest.

  • (NCAAF) Virginia vs. Louisville
  • (NCAAB) ugly slate

I tried to calm myself down before getting into this by saying tomorrow we get Arizona vs. Duke on ESPN but it didn’t work.

The rest column tonight is ugly with a capital everything. No. 11 Louisville plays its third to last game of the regular season tonight against an outright terrible Virginia program. Cardinals fans should enjoy this one because they will probably lose by 40+ in the basketball version of this game in a few months.

As much as we love college basketball, nothing is worth tuning into tonight. The team I picked the as my sleeper champion in this week’s podcast, the USC Trojans, are in action tonight at home against CSU Bakersfield in a game that could very well see 170 points.
