The Chicago Bears finally won their first game of the season on Thursday night, doubling up the Washington Commanders 40-20 in Landover, MD.
Bears’ quarterback Justin Fields was once again phenomenal with his arm in the win, throwing for 282 yards and 4 touchdowns. He also added 57 rushing yards.
While Fields was great in the win, the best player on the field was his favorite target, D.J Moore.
Moore went super-saiyan all over Washington’s secondary, securing 8 of 10 targets for a game-high 230 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Chicago’s defense was just as good, sacking Commanders quarterback Sam Howell 5 times after the unit only recorded 2 sacks through their first 4 games.
As for Howell, he set career highs in passing attempts (51) and passing yards (388) in the loss. While those numbers can be attributed to the game script, Commanders fans can take solace in the fact their quarterback was able to carry the load on a night Washington running backs rushed for only 10 yards.
The no-longer winless Bears travel back home next week to host the struggling Minnesota Vikings.
As for the Commanders, they will take a flight to the confusing cesspool that is Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport before taking on the Falcons.
