What to watch for tonight; November 13

Every single day, the guys at Section 400 will take you through the upcoming night’s slate of games, no matter how incredible, or how disgusting, it looks.

Today’s slate is decent, with Monday Night Football leading the way ahead of some mediocre basketball and hockey slates.

Here at the games you should be watching tonight.

The best.

(NFL) Broncos vs. Bills

NFL stand-alone games have been a complete and utter disaster this year. The grossness came to a head this week, when we were “treated” to the Panthers vs. Bears on Thursday Night Football and the Jets vs. Raiders on Sunday Night Football.

I’m not even going to mention the Colts vs. Patriots game. Those teams going at it for 60 minutes may have been the worst thing to happen in the country of Germany since the 1940s.

Tonight’s primetime game is slightly better than it’s predecessors but still not great, as the 3-5 Denver Broncos head up east to take on the Buffalo Bills. Josh Allen and the talented Bills should blow the doors off a bad Broncos team, but Buffalo’s inconsistencies make this game semi-interesting.

The best of the rest.

  • (NCAAB) Gavitt Games
  • (NBA) Cavaliers vs. Kings

The annual BIG 10/Big East Gavitt Games kick off tonight with 2-0 Michigan taking on 1-0 St. John’s at 6 PM eastern, followed by 2-0 Xavier (+17.5) traveling to Mackey Arena to take on No. 2 Purdue.

The Gavitt Games are normally one of the better preseason events held on the college basketball calendar, and they should be even better this year with Big East programs like St. Johns and Georgetown working towards a revival.

4 of the 8 games were decided by six points or less in 2022, all but one one were decided by 16 points or less. Michigan vs St. Johns is going to be the highlight of the day, but don’t sleep on a talented Xavier team giving Purdue all it can handle at Mackey Arena.

Only one game sticks out tonight on the professional side of basketball, as two struggling teams battle it out under the beam in Sacramento.

The 4-5 Cavaliers and the 4-4 Kings both have been mediocre on the young season, but the talent on both sides makes this game worth a watch.

The rest.

Villanova Athletics

(NCAAB/NBA/NHL) Rest of slate

We have two boo-boo NHL games, three other NBA games, and a lot of nonsense college basketball to round out Monday night’s sports slate.

Villanova vs. UPenn could be worth a look just to see how Justin Moore and the Wilcats play in this “rivalry” game. I put quotes on rivalry because UPenn has not exactly been a basketball powerhouse lately.

The Knicks travel to Boston to take on the Celtics on NBA TV. That game would be interesting had Julius Randle not switched professions from a basketball player to a home-builder, as New York’s center has thrown up more bricks this season than an angry ex-girlfriend.

For those wishing to watch some hockey, the Avalanche vs. Kraken may be a decent game. I assume all Avalanche fans will be tuned in to Monday Night Football however.
