Alabama Coach Nick Saban to retire

There are a lot of things I can say to open up this article, but I’ll just leave you this video.

Alabama head coach Nick Saban has FINALLY retired after 14 seasons at Alabama and plenty more in the NFL and college football.

After a subpar NFL career, Saban took over the reigns at Alabama and won six championship with the Crimson Tide, creating the biggest dynasty in sports in the mid-late 2010’s.

The 72-year-old’s retirement comes as a bit of a shock considering his team was a few plays away from returning to the College Football Playoff Championship this year.

Furthermore, Alabama would seemingly be a lock to make the playoff every single year for the remainder of Saban’s tenure with the expansion looming next season.

Instead, Saban leaves Alabama with a roster that, despite winning the SEC, is significantly worse than most years. Alabama recruits/players may flip with the head coach that recruited them leaving, making the SEC completely up for grabs for the first time in almost a decade.

(We don’t need to talk about how Kirby Smart and UGA still exist)

As an Auburn fan I am absolutely over the moon after hearing this news. We’ll see if the Tigers can take control of the state in the coming years.
